today some people came in to teach us about forestry  and how to be safe around logging trucks. we watched a video on how to be safe around logging trucks we learnt were there blind spots are. another video was of all the jobs involved in forestry. we also learnt about all the things that are made out of wood.  then we went down to the car park to see a logging truck. we got to climb through the cab and beep the horn.

Yesterday we went to paihia paintball. Here is a piece of writing I did about it. 

  Whaea sarah, ruby and myself were hiding behind a tall barky tree. In front of us was a grass bank. Coved with long green grass and old black tyres. BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! I felt a sharp pain in my lower leg. I looked down and saw that I had been hit. My mask was also covered with green paint. Ruby had been hit twice like me. But Whaea Sarah only been hit once in the leg.

 

I looked across the murky brown water and saw the other  team, our enemy. We all put our hands up in the air to be rescued. Luckily Eli came and rescued us. I shot over the water at Ella but I missed and almost hit norah who was on my team.Then I tried shooting at someone else but sadly I missed. Then I looked at myself. My knees were really dirty from kneeling  and ducking. I was also covered in paint . my arm was sore from holding the heavy gun

for market day my group are making posters and post cards. we have spent last term and this term making and planing our market day products. I have really enjoyed doing this even though I sometimes I found It hard. other groups in my class are doing  paracord bracelets, chai powder and growing plants.

this is a front of a post card that I made of mangonui. I really enjoyed making it and Finding all the photos to use on it. next I want to make another post card of a different place.

on the weekend we went to kaeo to get curry. we met some friends there. my best friend Pia was there too. we played on the playground before our curry was ready. I had butter chicken it was really yum. then we went to spring bank school for their firework display since the fireworks  started at nine we had lots of time before hand so I played uno and I won. there was also live music and stalls. at nine the fire works started.  the fireworks were amazing they went on for 10 minutes. we spent half an hour getting out of the car park because there were so many people there.

“Hey, Bella, what do you think the new boy will be like?” I whisper to my best friend.

“I don’t know, hopefully not another one that’s really annoying. ” Bring, The bell Pierced through the air and everybody in the hallways burst into frantic activity. “Come on, we need to get to our first class!”, yells Bella. As we run through the hallways I keep thinking about the new boy.“Charlie, what’s our first class? Bella asks me

 “math.”, I groan back. We run the rest of the way to class and burst through the door into the math classroom.

 

 As we slip into our usual seats at the back. A boy  with dark brown hair and blue eyes entered the class room and confidently walks across the room and sat down at the front row of desks. All the boys swarm around him asking questions . but all the girls stayed seated, gossiping with their friends, not paying any attention to the new boy. Ms T the math teacher came into the classroom as sly as a cat, and the boys didn’t even notice her, but some of the girls did.

“ attention everybody! Please don’t overwhelm Jeff.”, the class fell silent and went to seats.“now we will be going over last lessons homework.“, “Jeff can you please work through this worksheet since you have not done the homework.”, “ok…”

 

 The rest of the lesson went very slowly ,the only other highlights were when Johnny stabbed  himself with a pencil and when Milly fell off her chair. Most of the lesson everybody was staring at Jeff, not only was he incredibly good looking. He also seemed like he was going to be  the new cool guy in the school. When the bell rang everybody got up. And quickly ran out the door then sped to their next class.

 

 All of our year had PE together, Bella and me hate PE. We both play sports but for us PE is totally different. Our PE uniforms are way better than our school uniforms, our school uniforms include a white shirt, black pants and a navy jumper. Where our PE uniforms is black shorts and a white t-shirt with blue stripes. “Today we are doing a beep test!”Announcers mr smith. The class grones,” Oh come on it’s not that bad!” line up one that yellow line over there.I don’t like beep tests at all. A male voice rang out into the air” get ready for the beep test ,level one… beep!”, we almost couldn’t hear the first beep because of all the groaning. But we all started running. But  one person sprang ahead of everyone, that boy was Jeff! Most of us got out in the first few levels. But Jeff was still in at level 13 all the girls including me and Bella started whispering about him on the side lines. Meanwhile the boys were cheering him on screaming “ JEFF JEFF JEFF!”Jeff finally stopped at level 16. He looked like he could keep going on for longer. But we had to stop for lunch.

 

 At lunch every crowed around him trying to be his friend. I didn’t really like him,but most of the girls already had a crush on him. I looked in my bag to find my notebook and tucked in the side of my notebook there was a letter addressed to me. I wondered who had given me the letter. To sneak away from the table I said I needed to go to the bathroom. But Bella came too. “I saw the letter.” Bella whispered to me. We sneaked into an empty classroom. “ Let’s read the letter.” I whispered Bella nodded so I carefully opened the letter.

 

Dear charlie

Hello I’m Amy Rose  from Sunside high school and I’m in year 10 like you. Last year Jeff came to our school. Everyone liked him because he was good looking and good at everything. Everything about him seemed perfect. But soon I was able to see through him.  He targets schools like ours because we hold great secrets. There are banks for secret societies hidden in our schools. Jeff targets those banks .  Once he knows that you Know he will go.

The library of shadows

A novel study by Amiria Sawers

 

This book is written by Mikkel Birkegaard. I think this book would be aimed at young adults and adults. The genre is fantasy thriller.  The  library of shadows was first published in 2009.

 

This book is set in Copenhagen, Denmark there is also a bit set in egypt. This book is based around these people called lectors. There are two types of lestors. The first ones are transmitters,they can influence someone’s views on the text when they are reading out loud to them. The second type are receivers If someone is reading a text they can hear them reading and then they can influence someone’s views on the text doing this, if they want to they can elevate someone’s heart rate causing them to die. 

 

The main character in the library of shadows is this man called Jon campelli he is a lawyer and also a un activated lector. His mother died when he was young and his father luca campelli died because a receiver elevated his heart rate when he was reading. His father owned a second hand book shop called libri di luca. The shop got handed down to Jon. Jon fell in love with a woman who works at the bookshop. Her name is Katherina. She has long red hair and green eyes.

 

I really liked this book and I would recommend it to  anyone who likes fantasy thrillers.

DAY 1 !

The first day we went to a place in waipapa and played hockey, soccer and basketball. I also played fuzz ball with my friends. Next we made our way to camp all our bags were already there in the dining room then we went to our loges to sort all our stuff out I was on a top bunk in a corner we had macaroni and  cheese for dinner

DAY 2 !

he next day we woke up at six  and left camp at 7:15 heading to opononi we went to a place called Manea were we walked through a garden with lots of carvings  then we went into a theater to watch a show there were some awesome surprises throughout the  show. Then we went to see tane mahuta. it was really big. When we got back to camp we went on the water slide it was really fun. We had nachos for dinner. Then  we had a campfire and made s’mores. Then we had a talent show. After that we played spot light.

DAY 3 !

We woke up at 6:30 and had breakfast then we packed up all our stuff. Ten we had morning tea then we split into 3 groups to do activities  the first activity we did was a bridge that we crossed. then we did a blind fold cores it went through water and it was really fun. After that we did the flying fox it was really fun the flying fox also went over water.when we got back to school we were all very tired so we Just watched a movie.

 

 

this week our school went to cross country at peria school. every one from our school that compete in the cross country races, wears special sports t-shirts, that we only wear when we do sports based active’s like cross country. when we got there we discovered that it was super muddy and that was just the space were the people watched the races!  when  we were watching the races the mud was about 20 centimeters  thick! I was in the 10 year old girls category. we had to run 2.5 km when we were racing i got the stitch  it was so annoying. there were some very big mud patches on the course some of them reached up to my upper leg. I came some were in the middle. I don’t really like running you?
